Pendulum pieces:
Set in motion by the observer, these pendulum pairs move in rhythmic patterns as they exchange energy. The patterns can be altered by adjusting the lengths of the pendulums and or their initial conditions (angle and velocity). Mounted on ball bearings, the the motion continues for several minutes. The pendulum’s wall supports incorporate reflective surfaces that provide alternate perspective on the movement. These surfaces are engraved with scales that provide a reference for gaging the changing motion. Sizes shown are for the pieces at rest, their motion sweeps thorough an area that depends on the adjusted lengths of the pendulums and how energetically they are pushed.

Vibrating pieces:
1 Play, Three Pay, Spirit Catcher and Hot Potato combine cantilever mounted stones and polished bowls. These cantilevers can be set into vibratory motion so that they move the stones into then out of the polished interior of the bowls. With this cycle, the stone’s reflection alternately fills the bowl and then disappears from view.

All of these pieces are constructed of welded stainless steel with stone weights.
