These are multiple degree of freedom systems that are activated by the observer or the wind. Once started with a push the pieces will move for several minutes. My main interests are the motion of the elements; how that motion changes as it decays; the relationships between each of the elements as they move; and finally the interaction with the observer. The observer influences the motion pattern by choosing the initial conditions, angle and velocity of the elements. The motion pattern can also be changed by adjusting the length, hence frequency, of the pendulums.
